New Child Support Guidelines
New Tennessee Child Support Law

If your divorce and custody agreement was finalized before January 1, 2006, it may not be in line with the New Tennessee Child Support Guidelines. Contact an attorney now to revise your child support agreement.

Under the new Tennessee child support law, guidelines for calculation of child support take into consideration not only the income of the non-custodial parent, but that of the custodial parent. Some other factors considered by the court include health insurance, medical expenses not covered by insurance, child care expense, percentage of time a child lives with each parent, and special needs of the child. These guidelines apply whether the parents have been married and divorced and in cases where the parents have never been married to each other.

Nashville – Davidson County family law attorney Penny Harrington helps clients identify and accurately assess all factors, particularly income that may affect the court’s decision. If you would like to arrange a consultation with Ms. Harrington, please contact Harrington Law Office to discuss the correct amount of child support in light of your specific set of circumstances.
